I had to start a thread on this! There is not much I don't know about a 10/22 and I will also be the first to tell you NOT to spend a fortune on your ruger if all you want to do is plink...(Just removing the barrel band will help accuracy in 90% of the rifles!) I will be happy to help answer any questions you might have. Bob

To add to what ruger22 said, make sure you know what you want before you start buying all this stuff for your 10/22. I learned the hard way (spenta little over 1k!).

IMHO, "regular" .22's are a passion. Ruger 10/22's are an addiction. As such, logic plays very little part in decisions made.
Example:
I presently have four (4) Ruger 10/22's. They are all substantially different than one another, and all are modified to some extent to suit me. All are excellent shooters. All are 98% or better in condition. I need another 10/22 like a submarine needs a screen door. Why, then, pray tell, do I have in my drawer a "spare" VQ hammer, a "spare" skeeter sear, a "spare" WK buffer, etc. etc.
My name is OldSwede. I am a 10/22aholic...

I also have 3-10/22's, all obtained in less than a year.. My best will out perform most bolt action rifles. It seems to get better the more I shoot it. I shot my best group this past weekend with it, 10 shots .125x.24. I had 2 shots move on me to open it up.

Does anybody know if you need to over 18 to buy a rifle (10/22) in the local newspaper 'classifides' section? How about pawn shops? Gun shops? I've been checking the classifides every week to see if anybody wanted to sell their 10/22. I really want to start on my second build. ;D

BATF rules say 18 for a long gun and 21 for a hand gun, BUT I am not sure what the "private sale" rules are between individules (and state laws may apply).
But Pawn shops, gun stores, walmart or me, anyone with a class one ffl (dealers licence) MUST follow the BATF rules.

Sure, that will work. Ask us to help. Like asking the fox to guard the henhouse.....

I don't want to be a knowitall, but if you start an Anschutz collection I think the number of rimfires in your safe would come down. Might I suggest a 2013 to get you started?
