Nick from Bangkok over at Kentucky Fried Chicken just posted this little number. The XII is for the number of grooves, so the rifle is supposed to be more accurate, but sounds like the like Marlins microgroove rifling. It is just like a Lux except that the finish on the stock is shiny and according to Nick, the prices are about 15% higher than the Lux. I want one.

Do ya know if its a heavy barrel or not? If it shoots any better then the standard CZ's it would be worth looking at.

It's identical to the Lux except for the rifling and the finish on the stock is a gloss instead of satin. Same sights, everything. Please, oh please CZ, make a real match rifle with a heavy barrel and an adjustable stock.

Seems like the old Marlin 2000 had 12 groove microgroove, vs the "standard" 16 groove (or is that backwards, I can't remember right now - but they were different). I've always maintained that if a quality rimfire barrel was microgrooved it would be a real shooter, based on the performance of relatively ordinary factory barrels rifled that way. After all it does put less stress/deformation onto the bullet.

Looks like a gimmick for sales.
The name is deceiving if it doesn't have the heavy barrel, stiffer action, inert stock and better trigger.

Bill, I'm with you on this. It is just a Lux/Special with microgroove rifling. If they really want to make a match rifle with technology from Marlin they should copy the 2000L.

A CZ Action with the 453 Trigger and the stock of the Marlin would make a great do it all gun for not a lot of money

This has me really curios about the number and type of groves and accuracy.
I have a 1303 A3 Springfield that is very accurate, and it's one of the wartime two grove barrels.
Did Nick say if this model shot any better?

I sure do wish CZ would change their name. I've always been hung up on the name,,thinking Czech Republic, or Russian or whatever(cheap)...Have heard they are good bang for the buck....

Best bang for the Buck, no question about it. You have a choice of many models to choose from which sweetens the deal. I have 5 or 6 CZ's and I think (FWIW) the American and the FS are the best ones to choose from, with the Scout the hands down best gun for a 9 to 13 year old...they make Crickets and Crack-shots look like toys. Close on the hells of the CZ is the Izhmash Biathlon Basic or CM2 with accuracy that is neck and neck....actually for a target gun I think the CM2 will beat all of the above but does not make for a practical field gun...but if position shooting or Bench work is all you are going to do the CM2 is the way to go....Confused yet ;D
People like to read abut the "Golden years" of rimfire guns and associate it with the 1940s to 1950s but IMHO they are wrong...these are the Golden years of Rimfire with more choices and better prices than ever.....couple that with Ammo selections that has no equal in the past and this is the time to get a rimfire that is destined to be a great "Family Gun"

You gotta' remember there are two "CZs". There is also CZ Zastava in the former Yugoslavia ( it may now be Serbia, but who can keep up with eastern Europe these days?). CZ Zastava is a different comany... no connection to the Czech CZ. Zastava is the company that makes the new models of Remingtons.... Models 5, 410, 798 and 799. These were formerly imported as Charles Daly models. They don't make bad guns, but not as good as the Czech CZs.
