I'm trying to decide on a 3-p target rifle (22 -LR ) ; not a sporter ; i have a couple already. My choices are : (1) buy a cm-2 -- (2) buy a set of aperture sights for my trainer that sits in a Boyd's jrs stock ---(3) buy a target stock from brunoman and a set of aperture sights for my other trainer which is unaltered as of now. (4) buy a set of aperture sights for one of my scouts that is in a trainer stock. I know this is a lot of options ; maybe this is why I can't make up my mind. Of course this is all pending the sale of my deer rifle to a friend and my compound bow to whom ever. And I still hope to get one of Bill's project air rifles when they're ready. opinions ? Oh yea I could get another Boyd's jrs for the other scout with a set of apertures. kirby

Kirby, when I bought my CM-2 I drove up to Blue Ridge to Stanley's Pro Shop and compared the Adult and the Cadet. The length of pull is the same. The weight and barrel length/diameter are the only differences that Terry Stanley and I could see. As for the other options, I have done them and use them. I have Brno target apertures on 3 CZ's and one of them is mounted in a Brno target stock. When I go to a prone match, I'm using my CM-2. That should tell you something. I think the CM-2 will shoot with Annies. I can't say anything bad about CZ's, but when I'm shooting against Annies, I want the CM-2 and I want the Adult model.

I'm driving up to Stanley's Pro Shop tomorrow to look at a CM-2 Cadet. If everything works out and it fits ok ; It'll probably come home with me . I guess I may take take the "kid's model" , it'll go good with my two scouts. later kirby

Corn gratulations Kirby. It's not a bad choice. all you are giving up is weight. I do have a Biathlon Basic and I plan to either put aperture sights on it or consider it a squirrel rifle. It is fantastic but they need a little work on the extractors if you decide to get one. It's very minor work and I did it, so not to worry. And to you Dwight, the CM-2 Adult does not come with or require batteries It's late and I have a match in the morning. You are going to love the CM-2. Go shoot it tomorrow and let us know how it goes. Mine loves Federal 714 and I suspect that would be a good place to start. If I can't get the BB set up like I want I may get a Cadet and have the stock modified to have an adjustable comb.

Kirby, have you shot the CM-2 yet? Don't even try hi or hyper velocity ammo. My CM-2 is not all that picky about ammo and it will be quite some time if ever before I can shoot as well as it does. I'm going to have to go shoot it off a bench and post the targets just to make a point about how well it shoots.

Charlotte ; I got about 30 minutes of range time saturday afternoon; Just enough time to sight-in and shoot a box off hand @ 25yds. The trigger surprized me . Going tomorrow to give it a workout ; I'll let you know. kirby

Shot the CM-2 today; started on the bench ; 4 out of 5 first shots took out the 9-10 ring on a USBR target. That'll work! then the rest of my time was spent away from the bench ; mostly standing off-hand; this gun begs to be shot off-hand. My best on the NRA SB 50 yarder was a 94 ; worst a 90. I tried a couple targets @ 50 yds. sitting with the sling and shot a 85 and a 86. The 85 (second target shot) was actually a better group except for a 3 o'clock 6 that I have no idea what happened. Then was time for prone. I shot a 86 and for some reason my group was @ 10 o'clock 8-9 ring ? what would make my poi change like that ? Is this normal ? do you have to resight when changing positions? Should I adjust the butt pad differently? All in all ; the gun's a shooter , and i'm sure with practice my aperture scores will equal my scoped ones . By the way ; with my scoped Cz scout/boyds I shot a 95 off-hand just before leaving the range. All this was shot with Aguila standard velocity. kirby

Kirby, if your sight picture should have you in the X ring and you hit at 10 o'clock in the 8 ring or whatever, blame your position. Get into your prone position, sights on target and close your eyes and concentrate on relaxing, especially your left arm. Then open your eyes and see where your sights are. Your natural point of aim would be high and left to cause your poi to shift into that 10 o'clock hit. You need to be locked in with the sling and butt against your shoulder, cheek welded to the stock so that your eye lines up with the sights, BUT all of that needs to be passive when it comes to getting the sights on the bullseye. Your position does the actual aiming, which is to say that if you need to move your front sight to the right your should move your left leg to the left. Never use your hands to move the front sight onto the target.
