Is the 16" twist the optimum twist??
If not,, in your own mind,, what would be??
I'm thinking a 22" sporter weight tube would make a good accurate tube & still be decent to carry. Any opinions on this are Welcome.

I'd say "follow the Greener Formula" (Bullet Diameter Squared X 150)/bullet length.
Let's take .22 caliber bullet, half an inch long, and that yields us a twist of 1 in 15.

the most accurate rimfires in the world are 22 lr's with twist rates from 1-16 to 1-18.
since the 22 mag bullet is kinda similar in shape, and the barrels are mostly twisted 1-16 , the higher velocity produces much greater rpm's than the 22 lr.
i notice a little decrease in accuracy in the dead of winter with mine , but never an oblong hole in the target or any keyholing like a 22 lr with less rpm's.
just my opinion , but i think 1-16 is probably a little faster twist than a 22 mag really needs, doesnt seem to matter though since that's the main twist rate available on factory barrels.
